Sometimes the most unusual inquiries turn into the most exciting encounters.
The message came from Milan. R. wrote to us with a question we rarely receive: would we be able to craft two symmetrical, spiral-shaped wooden bracelets - reaching from wrist to almost elbow? Accessories meant to evoke motion, presence, and a form that follows the arm and gently embraces it. The cuffs were to complement a specific garment.
She sent us precise measurements and mentioned there was a deadline. Clearly, something special was coming up.
We admit it - we were excited.
Together, we refined the shape, exchanging sketches and photos from our side. The bracelets needed to widen towards the elbows, so that putting them on and wearing them would feel natural and effortless. We rounded the edges to provide even more comfort.
We proposed to build the bracelets from several layers of finely selected veneer for both flexibility and strength.
The wood had to be Brazilian rosewood. It's a deep, vibrant, and full of character. The form gracefully curved, gliding along the arm with no clasps and no effort.
R. wasn’t sure what the final result would be, but she trusted us.
We developed a mold and spiral pattern.
Each layer was cut and bonded. Then came drying, shaping, sanding, smoothing the contours, softening the edges.
At the beginning of June, thanks to the warm weather, we were able to release the second bracelet from the mold earlier than expected. I shaped it the same day. Both were now ready for the final stage.
There was a gentle, organic asymmetry in the movement—rosewood is alive, full of energy. And that’s exactly what gave the forms their character. The grain began to "speak," like a texture with inner strength.
We sent her photos and a short video. R. responded with warm approval and asked us to proceed with the finish.
After the final steps—base coat, drying, matting, top coat—the bracelets were ready. We shipped them on the morning of June 5.
"I really hope they fit well and feel comfortable"—that was our last message, sent with a photo, just before the courier picked them up.
Five days later, when she had received the package:
“Hey! I just received the bracelet and I’m honestly so happy It’s incredible your craftsmanship and attention to detail really show. I also really appreciate how professional and thoughtful your whole process was. Thank you so much for putting your time and effort into this project . Wishing you continued success your art deserves all the recognition! ❤️"
Projects like these don’t just test the limits of the hand—they open new horizons for wood as a material.
And clients like these? They open the heart to new challenges.
